on Sunday, February 9th, 2020 at 2pm, as hundreds gather on the beautiful campus of Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida to officially attempt to break a Guinness World Record!

The current record is 306 and was set on September 10, 2019 by Kelly Ripa on her morning show in New York City! Let's show those New Yorkers what we've got! Let's go for 500 participants!

Watch Kelly Ripa, and 305 others, set the current world record.

"If you are a ballet student, teacher, professional or even a former ballet dancer, this event is for you!"

Why Register?
  • We are working with the Guinness World Records to ensure the record will be official!
  • Because registration is absolutely Free, and we need to keep track of all the participants.
  • News Channel 8, Bay News 9, and others are interested in covering the event! This means you could be on TV!
  • You'll have fun with friends and family, enjoy a beautiful day in Lakeland and best of all, you will have bragging rights that you participated in breaking a world record!
  • A commemorative T-Shirt, video and photo, will be available for purchase after the event that will allow you to reminisce about the day that you helped break a world record! Plus, the t-shirt will list, on the back, every academy and professional company that participated!

Official Record Details
Record Definition
  • This record is for the greatest number of ballet dancers en pointe simultaneously.
  • For the purpose of this record, en pointe is part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes.

Rules for Most Ballet Dancers On Pointe Simultaneously
  • All ballet dancers must remain en pointe for a minimum of one minute.
  • Any dancer who fails to complete the one minute must be discounted from the final number of participants.
  • The clock starts as soon as the heels of the dancers leave the floor.
  • The participant should have experience dancing en pointe to participate! This can include those who currently dance, or who have previously danced!
  • The participant must be able to stand on point for a full minute. Minimal movement is permitted to stay balanced. The participant will not be allowed to balance by touching another participant during the attempt.
  • Participants must wear appropriate ballet attire and must wear pointe shoes. This can include a leotard, tights with or without a tutu, or a costume that was worn in a classical ballet performance. This is a Guinness World Records requirement and will give us the best visual for photos, video and the news coverage.
  • You will be roughly given a 3'x3' area in which to participate, so practice before the event! There will be up to 50-participants in a designated 21'x 21' square area.

** Disclaimers: Upon arrival at the event, you will be asked to sign in and sign a waiver removing liability from White Thorn Events, Etoile Dancewear or Southeastern University in the event of an injury. Friends and family are welcome to join you at the attempt, however, there will be limited seating in the gymnasium. We will send additional details via email for those that register. Due to the amount of setup that is required for this event, if we do not have more than 250 signed up by 1/1/2020 and greater than 306 (current record) signed up by 2/5/19, we will cancel the event.
